The American Indian Medical Education Strategies (AIMES) Alliance has created this tool to assist students at all stages in identifying existing scholarships. The tool enables students to search for programs based on location, the health profession they are aspiring to, and the stage of education they are in. Check out the tool below and please share it with any students looking to serve tribal communities!
Medicine Pathways for Advancing Tribal Healthcare (PATH)
Boston, MA
D.O./M.D.
Front-Line Indigenous Partnership Program
Undergraduate
The Medicine Pathways for Advancing Tribal Healthcare (M-PATH) program supports 8 motivated students interested in Indigenous health disparities currently enrolled in college or university on their journey to becoming physicians. Designed as a long-term investment in a community-driven healthcare workforce, the program offers mentorship, clinical shadowing exposure, and support to students from a wide range of backgrounds. The program covers the costs for student travel, transportation, lodging, and food during the Boston based 3-week summer enrichment portion of the program. If successful, the program can continue to be a part of the solution to addressing healthcare disparities facing Indigenous and rural communities for years to come.

We Are Healers Wy’east Post-Baccalaureate Pathway
Portland, OR
D.O./M.D.
Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU)
Post-Baccalaureate
The Wy’east Pathway takes place over 10 months, from mid-September to early June of each year. The Pathway is designed to be culturally rooted uniquely for AI/ANs to prepare and familiarize them with concepts and spaces they will be navigating in medical school. One of the most valuable attributes of the Wy’east Medicine is the provision of conditional acceptance into the OHSU School of Medicine. This provision means that scholars will enter the OHSU School of Medicine as a first-year medical student provided that they (1) successfully complete the Wy’east Medicine Pathway, and (2) meet final matriculation requirements of the OHSU School of Medicine.
